Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD), located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a 600 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer. This RFI seeks market research information on commercially available systems to replace an aging unit and meet evolving research needs. Responses are due by June 8, 2026.
Scope of Work
USAMRICD, the Department of War's lead laboratory for medical chemical defense research, uses a 600 MHz NMR spectrometer for structural elucidation, chemical agent exposure verification, and biochemical research. Due to increasing maintenance challenges and the need for enhanced performance, USAMRICD is seeking information on modern replacement systems. The RFI aims to identify qualified sources capable of supplying, installing, commissioning, and supporting a state-of-the-art system in a secure, regulated laboratory environment.
Requested Information
Vendors are requested to submit a white paper (limited to 25 pages) addressing:
- Company Information: Name, address, business size/type (e.g., small business, veteran-owned), UEI, and CAGE code.
- Capability Details: Past performance with similar requirements, limitations, proprietary aspects, and ability to manufacture/deliver.
- Minimum Essential Characteristics (MECs): Documentation demonstrating availability of a 600 MHz NMR system (magnet, console, components), 24-slot autosampler, Room Temperature (RT) Probe (preferably pentaprobe), Cryoprobe, Liquid Chiller for Cryo-Bay, Battery Backup (30 mins), and full installation.
- Vendor Capabilities: Information on additional components, performance/material characteristics (size, resolution, signal-to-noise, magnet drift, cryogen loss, 5-gauss line), cryogen supply, multiple peak suppression, software compatibility (CRAFT NMR, MNova), warranty/update frequency, and extended warranty/service contract options (5/10 years).
- Removal of Existing Equipment: Availability of decommissioning, removal, and disposal services for the current Agilent 600 MHz NMR system.
- Government/Vendor Site Visit: Willingness to approve an onsite visit for Government personnel to conduct performance testing.
