Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
  • Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
  • Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps

Quick Summary

The Department of the Air Force (USAF), specifically the Point Defense Battle Lab (PDBL), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Counter Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) and Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) solutions. The purpose is to enhance the USAF's understanding of market capabilities and identify qualified vendors for collaboration on integration, development, training, and sustainment services. Responses are due by April 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM CST.

Scope of Interest

The PDBL seeks to improve its ability to secure Air Force assets, personnel, and continuity of operations by advancing C-sUAS detection, tracking, interception, and neutralization. This includes shifting to a more proactive defense posture against airborne threats, integrating cutting-edge technology, and rapidly developing Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for defeating sUAS threats. The RFI is interested in solutions for Group 1-3 Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

Key Requirements & Technical Parameters

Vendors should offer technologies or services that are:

  • Ease of Use: Minimal operator training required.
  • Rapidly Deployable: Transportable via palletized cargo, setup by 4 personnel or less within 2 hours.
  • Extreme Weather Capable: Operable in -40°F and 20-30 mph winds.

C-sUAS Technical Parameters include:

  • Consistent detection and tracking of Group 1 UAS at 2 km or greater.
  • Autonomous classification of tracks, distinguishing sUAS from non-UAS objects.
  • Effective discrimination of clutter and simultaneous tracking of multiple UAS threats.
  • Functionality in GNSS-denied/degraded environments with low physical/spectral signatures.
  • Compatibility with 5 kW–30 kW military generators and rapid integration with Government C-UAS fire control systems.
  • All-weather engineering and ease of operator usability.
  • Secondary Attributes: Capability for Group 2/3 UAS, 360° azimuth/30° elevation search, detection of hovering UAS, physical target length estimates, and tracking accuracy for effector cueing with 4-10 Hz update rates.

Cybersecurity: If selected for prototyping, solutions must comply with DoD Instruction 8510.01 (Risk Management Framework).

Submission Requirements

Interested businesses must submit a Capabilities Statement not exceeding fifteen (15) pages, plus a one (1) page cover letter (total 16 pages). The submission must include:

  1. Company Overview: Experience and expertise in sUAS or C-sUAS.
  2. Technology or Services Overview: Detailed description, technical parameters, performance characteristics, integration requirements (including power, detection ranges, track management, C2 systems integrated, coverage, update rates, cloud dependencies).
  3. Technical Approach: Detailed description of the approach for C-sUAS and sUAS technologies/services.
  4. Performance Data: Test results demonstrating the technology's ability to protect USAF assets.

Submissions are due via electronic mail by April 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM CST. This RFI is unclassified; proprietary information should be clearly marked.

Additional Notes

This RFI is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on this RFI, and responses will be treated as information only. The PDBL also conducts monthly C-sUAS exercises with commercial vendors, which are advertised on SAM.gov approximately one month prior to their scheduled date.
