Quick Summary
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (NSWC-CD) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought for commercially available or modified commercially available headspace gauges. This market survey aims to gather information for a potential future five (5) year indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ), firm fixed priced contract. Responses are due by March 26, 2026.
Scope of Work
NSWC-CD is seeking headspace gauges for various calibers, including: 300 AAC Blackout (GO/No GO), 5.56mm NATO, 7.62x39mm, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7.62 x 51 NATO, 300 Norma Magnum, 338 Norma Magnum, and 6.8mm/277 FURY. The requirement includes detailed technical specifications for dimensions, material, heat treatment, geometric tolerances, surface finish, labeling, and third-party certification/calibration.
Key Requirements for Responses
Respondents should provide:
- Technical data sheets
- Technology Readiness Level (TRL)
- Availability and lead time
- Budgetary cost estimate, including willingness for five-year pricing
- Data to support mitigation of duplication costs or mission delays
- Details on modified commercial solutions (if applicable), including the commercial item, modifications, and impact on pricing.
- Product literature, operating instructions, and supplemental technical documentation.
- Delivery, shipping, and warranty information.
Technical Specifications (from Attachments)
The attached specifications and drawings (A6_Specs.pdf, A7_Dwgs.pdf) define critical requirements. Gauges must conform to SAAMI or NATO standards for headspace and diameter, be made of high-alloy tool steel (e.g., AISI O1/O2) heat-treated to 58-60 HRC, and meet strict geometric tolerances and surface finish requirements. Each gauge requires specific labeling and third-party certification/calibration. Vendors must also provide complete CAD drawings.
