The Defense Health Agency (DHA), on behalf of Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) / Sources Sought Notice to identify qualified vendors capable of providing an Automated Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) Probe Cleaning and High-Level Disinfection System. This market research aims to gather information on available solutions and determine the feasibility of a competitive procurement. Responses are due April 17, 2026, by 5pm EDT.

Purpose

This RFI seeks information from prospective vendors regarding the availability and capability of automated TEE probe cleaning and high-level disinfection systems. The goal is to inform the Government's decision on whether to conduct a competitive procurement for this requirement for NMCP Cardiology. This notice is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a promise to issue a future solicitation.

Scope of Requirement

NMCP Cardiology requires an automated TEE probe cleaning and high-level disinfection system with the following essential characteristics:

  • FDA-Cleared: Specifically for automated reprocessing of TEE probes.
  • Compatibility: Fully compatible with current and future Philips TEE probe platforms, processing all probes without exclusions.
  • Standardized Workflow: Support a single, standardized reprocessing workflow for all TEE probes, eliminating multiple cleaning methods.
  • Validated Process: Utilize a validated enzymatic cleaning process designed for TEE probe reprocessing.
  • Repeatable Cycles: Provide repeatable, validated cleaning and high-level disinfection cycles for consistent compliance.
  • Minimized Handling: Reduce direct handling of probes to minimize variability and cross-contamination risk.
  • High-Volume Support: Capable of supporting high-volume clinical operations without workflow delays.
