Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Tactical Technology Office (TTO), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) (RFI-DARPA-SN-26-33) to gather capabilities for novel, U.S.-manufactured and assembled autonomous aerial platforms (drones) and containers. This RFI aims to inform future program planning for long-endurance constellations operating in GPS-denied environments. Responses are due by May 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM ET.
Scope of Information Sought
DARPA is interested in two primary categories:
- Drones (Category 1): Group 1-3 unmanned aerial vehicles capable of fully autonomous launch, recovery, storage, organization, recharging/refueling, internal logistics, and pre/post-flight checkout. These drones must form mission-focused, collaborative constellations with long endurance and high operational availability.
- Containers (Category 2): Solutions for fully autonomous drone storage, logistics management, launch, recovery, and recharge/refuel. Containers should be compatible with standardized military containers (e.g., Conex, 463L pallets) but innovative designs are also considered, provided they are self-sufficient with energy storage, communication, and compute capabilities.
General system requirements include Autonomy Level 4 (no human participation beyond mission definition), long constellation endurance (multiple days), low SWaP-C for drones, and robust constellation management software.
Submission Requirements
- Response Due: May 15, 2026, 4:00 PM ET.
- Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or unprotected Adobe Acrobat (.pdf).
- Page Limit: Each response to Attachment #1 (Drones) or Attachment #2 (Containers) is limited to 5 pages. A combined response to both categories is limited to 10 pages.
- Submission Method: Email unclassified responses to DARPA-SN-26-33@darpa.mil.
- Security: Attachment 3 details mandatory procedures for handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and classified submissions, requiring specific markings and prior coordination with the DARPA Program Security Representative.
Attachments
- Attachment #1 (Drones): A template for providing detailed technical specifications (e.g., weight, performance, SWaP-C, constellation management) and business information for drone platforms.
- Attachment #2 (Containers): A template for providing technical specifications (e.g., SWaP, operational metrics, PNT, fuel storage) and business information for container solutions.
Additional Notes
This is a Request for Information (RFI) for market analysis and program planning purposes only; it is not a solicitation for proposals. DARPA will not reimburse costs incurred in responding. Proprietary information must be clearly marked. DARPA may engage in discussions with respondents.
