Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI), titled "RFI-FA2835-1690 FTTD", to identify qualified contractors for the provision and installation of a complete Fiber to the Desk (FTTD) system in Building 1109 at Hanscom Air Force Base (HAFB), Massachusetts. This opportunity is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. Responses are in the form of Letters of Interest (LOI).
Scope of Work
This RFI seeks information for installing a fully functional and compliant FTTD system for user workstations and conference rooms. Key requirements include:
- Installation of a complete FTTD system connecting all designated information systems.
- 100% testing and certification of installed fiber optic strands to TIA/EIA performance specifications.
- Coordination with government technical points of contact to minimize network downtime.
- Delivery of comprehensive as-built documentation (floor plans, rack elevations, test results) within 14 days post-installation.
Clarifications from Q&A (Posted March 12, 2026):
- Each desk will have 4 fiber strands, with additional dark strands for future expansion.
- Fibers will terminate at the desk and the IDF (located on each floor).
- FTTD is specifically required on the 2nd floor only.
- Cabling can be run on walls using Panduit or J-hooks, or along walls, ensuring visibility and testability.
- The Government will provide network electronics and SFP transceivers (TAA-compliant Cisco-compatible transceivers are acceptable).
- Contractor is responsible for running fiber from the 1st floor MDF to the 2nd floor IDF.
- Contractor should recommend and procure ceiling speakers for VTC; specs will be provided at RFP.
- Table mics with 3.5mm interface will be used for VTC, not soundbars.
- 66ABG/SCOI will ensure network connectivity for VTC devices; cameras are already procured by the Government.
