Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The DEVCOM Chemical Biological Center (CBC) is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) for Standoff Chemical Detector of Vehicles. The RFI seeks optical standoff imaging technologies for integration onto unmanned ground platforms to detect, map, and characterize chemical contamination on materiel surfaces. This effort aims to remove Warfighters from contaminated environments and accelerate post-incident recovery. Responses are due by April 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM Eastern.
Scope of Work
DEVCOM CBC is seeking information on standoff imaging technologies capable of rapidly scanning vehicle surfaces (2-5m standoff distance, 5 m²/min scan rate) to locate and identify chemical contamination. Key requirements include integration onto unmanned ground platforms (under 45 lbs if robotic arm), on-board processing for real-time detection, export of imaging data for contamination mapping, and detection of gross to trace quantities of various chemical agents (including synthetic opioids) on diverse surfaces (CARC, glass, rubber) and in the presence of decontamination solutions.
Partial solutions at TRL 7 or higher that are commercially available and require only platform integration are acceptable. Lower TRL technologies may require additional science and technology development but should address objectives like a 10 m²/min scan rate and man-portability (under 12 lbs).
