Quick Summary
The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) are conducting market research through a Sources Sought / Request For Information (RFI). This RFI seeks secure, ruggedized Starlink/Starshield integration solutions for the AC-130J Ghostrider gunship to enable beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) satellite communication for networked mission systems. Responses are due by January 30, 2026.
Scope of Work
The RFI focuses on solutions for semi-permanent, removable installation on aircraft, utilizing off-the-shelf secure rugged aviation SATCOM terminals. Key requirements include:
- Ruggedized, Removable Installation for special operations aerospace applications.
- Compatibility with Other C-130 Variants for operational missions and test & evaluation.
- Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) Efficiency while meeting network performance demands.
- Optimal Network Reliability & Performance for secure global connectivity, maximizing speeds and minimizing latency.
- Open-Source Interfaces and Architecture for seamless integration with current and future SOF platform systems.
- Support and Willingness to Work with Third Party Integrators, including 24/7/365 customer support.
Respondents are also requested to provide a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimate for a single demonstration on the AC-130J and a roll-on, roll-off (RORO) capability on one aircraft, covering cost, schedule, assumptions, constraints, risks, and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE).
