Quick Summary

The Department of the Army (ACC-APG), on behalf of Product Manager Soldier Maneuver Sensors (PdM SMS), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Next-Generation Nett Warrior End User Devices (EUDs). This RFI seeks commercially available or near-production-ready handheld devices to serve as a lifecycle replacement for the current EUD. This is for market research purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). Responses are due June 5, 2026.

Scope of Work

This RFI aims to identify potential hardware solutions and vendor capabilities for a next-generation EUD for the Nett Warrior (NW) system. Vendors are requested to provide detailed information on products focusing on:

  • Connectivity: Support for Disconnected, Intermittent, and Limited (DIL) environments, including USB-C, LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 5G.
  • Display: Operability in adverse conditions (gloves, wet), impact resistance, screen size, resolution, and brightness.
  • Environmental & Ruggedness: Compliance with IP68 and MIL-STD-810H standards (shock, drop, vibration, temperature, salt/fog), with potential for ballistic/gunfire shock testing.
  • Security / Data Enclave: Capability for Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) and Classified data enclaves, meeting NSA requirements (e.g., CSfC approved components).
  • Battery & Power: Specifications for extended missions, battery type, charge time, and fast charging capabilities.
  • Performance: Sufficient RAM, processor specifications, and capability for AI integration.
  • Operating System: Support for Android OS, including plans for updates, security patches, and custom ROM integration.

Vendors should also describe their proposed solution, required COTS OS/software modifications, and suggest additional features. Detailed specification sheets, test results, and certifications are requested.

Contract & Timeline

  • Type: Request for Information (RFI) / Sources Sought
  • Set-Aside: None specified
  • Response Due: June 5, 2026, by 7:00 PM ET

Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates are requested for R&D (3,500 units) and fielding (35,000 units), including licensing, recurring software, custom ROM development, and maintenance/support agreements.
