Scope of Work
The contractor shall provide all plant, labor, material, design, and supervision for the delivery of approximately 16,410 tons of Graded Crushed Aggregate Base Course (GCA). This GCA is intended for a Type A traffic area supporting Modified Heavy Aircraft.
- Material Specifications: GCA must conform to Uniform Guide Specifications (UFGS) 32.11.23 and AASHTO #57. It must consist of clean, sound, durable particles, free of silt and clay, with specific properties including a maximum liquid limit of 25 and a maximum plasticity index of 5. Detailed gradation and acceptance criteria are provided in the specifications.
- Design Requirements: Design must adhere to Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Avon Park Air Force Range Design Standards, and other referenced standards, applying the most stringent requirement in case of conflict.
- Delivery: GCA is to be delivered in pre-coordinated intervals between May 2026 and July 2026 to the vicinity of Avon Park, FL.
- Quality Control: The contractor is responsible for field and laboratory quality control testing, including specific QA tests (Gradation Analysis, Liquid Limit, Plasticity Index, Moisture Density, Wear, Flat and Elongated Pieces) for every 2,500 tons of GCA. The contractor must be able to produce a minimum sub-lot of 1,500 tons in an eight-hour period.
