Quick Summary

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) / NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) intends to award a sole source contract to PCB PIEZOTRONICS, INC. for Rocket Motor ICP Pressure Sensors (10k psi, 0.5 mV/psi, Helium Bleed, Water-cooled). This notice serves as a Sole Source Justification / Sources Sought to determine if other qualified sources exist. Interested organizations must submit their capabilities by June 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Scope of Work

This requirement is for the procurement of 10k psi Dynamic Pressure Sensors with specific features for use in methane, oxygen, and combustion product environments. The Statement of Work (SOW) details the following:

Key Engineering Requirements:

  • Helium bleed to protect the sensor diaphragm and increase natural frequency, including filters.
  • Water cooling capability with potable water (above 500 psi).
  • Durability: Must withstand peak pressures of 15,000 psi, operate from -100°F to 250°F, and withstand flash temperatures exceeding 6,000°F.
  • Design: Ceramic coated tips for erosion prevention, hermetically sealed, electrical ground isolation, and low-impedance output (≤100 Ohms).
  • Electrical: Excitation voltage no greater than 30 VDC and no less than 12 VDC, with current draw no greater than 20 mA.
  • Performance: Nonlinearity ≤1.0% Full Scale, resolution ≤0.2 psi, rise time ≤20 microseconds, and resonant frequency ≥25 kHz.

Deliverables include:

  • 40x Model 123B23 Rocket Motor ICP pressure sensors (Line Item 1).
  • 80x Brass Seals (Line Item 2).

Period of Performance: No greater than 20 Weeks ARO for the first 10 units of Line Item 1, and no greater than 40 Weeks ARO for the remaining 30 units of Line Item 1. Shipping: All deliverables to Central Receiving, Bldg. 4631, Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL 35812.

Contract & Timeline
