Scope of Work

This Design-Build project addresses deficiencies in safety showers and eyewash fixtures across several buildings at the NIST Boulder Campus. The base scope covers Building 22 (B22), with four optional Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs) for Building 25 (B25), Building 42 (B42/Central Utility Plant – CUP), Building 1 (B1), and Building 2 (B2). The contractor will be responsible for:

  • Providing professional architectural and engineering services for a Design-Build solution.
  • Modifying plumbing infrastructure to meet ANSI Z358.1-2014 water temperature and flow requirements.
  • Installing new thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) and tempered water piping.
  • Conducting pre- and post-work testing in accordance with ANSI Z358.1-2014, witnessed by NIST staff.
  • Minimizing impacts to occupied spaces and infrastructure.
  • Developing and submitting a construction and phasing schedule within 45 days of notice to proceed.
  • Providing stamped construction drawings and specifications, and detailed as-builts in PDF and AutoCAD format.
  • Requiring key personnel (Project Manager, Site Superintendent, Safety Manager) each with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
