Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To conduct structural repair of storm-damaged catwalk pilings at the Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery by installing ten new marine-grade treated pilings.

• Install ten new 12-inch butt 2.5 CCA marine-grade treated pilings alongside existing, damaged pilings in a "sistered" arrangement on two catwalks.

• Pilings will be marked by station management.

• Bidder is responsible for determining the correct piling length, ensuring a minimum of 10-ft ground penetration. Existing piling lengths range from 14 to 16 feet from ground to top.

• All existing pilings are to remain in place.

• If any part of the dock (framing, railings, decking, etc.) must be removed to drive new pilings, the contractor is responsible for its removal and replacement.

• Connect new pilings to existing structures using SAE 316 stainless steel grade hardware and marine-grade treated header boards.

• Each set of eight pilings requires a minimum of two header boards, two threaded rods, four flat washers, four lock washers, and four nuts, all specified as SAE 316 stainless steel grade hardware or higher.

• Haul off and dispose of any resulting trash.

• All work must comply with applicable local, state, and federal code requirements.

• Any material to be reinstalled must be reviewed and approved by station management before reinstallation. Otherwise, it must be replaced with new, identical material.

• Site location: USFWS, Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery, 7030 Bears Bluff Rd, Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, 29487.

• Contractor must conduct a site visit to gather measurements and information for an accurate bid.

• Any recommended deviations from the SOW must be submitted in the quote to the Contracting Officer.

• Contractor, subcontractors, and employees must comply with all station rules and regulations, including restrictions on fishing and swimming. Weekend work requires advance scheduling.
