Scope of Work
The opportunity requires the manufacture and supply of Hex Cap Screws meeting MIL-DTL-1222 specifications, including specific configurations: Type I, Grade 500 (QQ-N-286), Solution Annealed and Age Hardened, 7/8 inch size, 2 3/4 inches length, 9 unc thread series, Class of Fit 3A, and Chamfered End. The unit of issue is EACH, with an additional fastener required for each uniquely identified heat/lot for traceability.
Quality Assurance & Testing
This is a critical requirement with stringent quality controls. Contractors must provide and maintain a quality system in accordance with ISO-9001 (with ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025) or an acceptable alternate (MIL-I-45208 with MIL-STD-45662). Key requirements include:
- Testing Certifications: Required for Liquid Penetrant Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection on starting material (for QQ-N-286 items >= 4 inches diameter).
- Specialized Testing: Slow Strain Rate Tensile Tests must be performed by approved laboratories. Wedge Tensile Tests are required for headed fasteners.

Submission & Evaluation

Certification data must be submitted to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard via Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) for review and acceptance prior to each shipment. Specific WAWF codes ("Ship to" N50286, "Inspect by" N39040, "Accept by" N39040) and an email notification address (PORT_PTNH_WAWF_Notification@navy.mil) are provided. No material is to be shipped without prior acceptance.
Additional Notes
