Quick Summary

The Department of the Army has issued a Pre-Solicitation Notice for Seven (7) TYPE III Wildland Fire Fighting Trucks (Brush Trucks) to support Army Fire Departments in Europe. This notice aims to engage industry, answer questions, and identify potential vendors for an anticipated future solicitation. Responses to this pre-solicitation are due by February 28, 2026, at 15:00 CET.

Opportunity Details

This pre-solicitation, identified as W564KV-26-R-A005, is for the procurement of seven (7) new Type III Wildland Fire Fighting Trucks. The 409th Theater Contracting Command (TCC) requires these vehicles to meet stringent technical specifications and various international standards (NFPA, NWCG, EN, DIN, ECE, ISO, FMVSS, STVO). Delivery will be FOB destination to Ansbach, Germany.

Scope of Work

The required trucks must be conventional cab chassis adapted for firefighting, featuring a rear-mounted fire pump and foam proportioning system. Key technical requirements include:

  • Drivetrain: 4x4 all-wheel drive with transversal differential locking on both axles. Advanced single-tire all-wheel systems are not acceptable due to insufficient off-road capability.
  • Tanks: Minimum 4,000L water tank and 300L foam tank. Tank materials can be glass-fiber reinforced composite or UV-resistant polyethylene plastics, with elastic mounting for torsion resistance.
  • Engine: High-performance diesel, 4-cylinder, max 5.2 liters displacement, at least 210 BHP, and 800 Nm torque.
  • Transmission: Fully automated, clutch-operated with at least sixteen speeds and integrated transfer case.
  • Dimensions & Performance: Max length 6,700mm, width 2,550mm, height 3,200mm; minimum GVWR 14,000 kg. Minimum tilt angle 26.5°, top speed 68mph (governed), minimum approach/departure angles of 40°, minimum ground clearance of 500mm.
  • General: Brand-new, reliable components suitable for severe environmental conditions (-25°C to +45°C), adhering to German street code (STVO).
  • Equipment: Comprehensive firefighting equipment, PPE, rescue/hazmat, medical supplies, and communication devices as detailed in the equipment lists.
