Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, is planning a Presolicitation for the Shenango River Lake Water Tank Rehabilitation Project in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. This project involves comprehensive rehabilitation of the elevated water tank. This procurement is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside and will result in a Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) contract. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) is expected to be issued on or about May 19, 2026.
Scope of Work
The rehabilitation work primarily includes the removal, disposal, and in-kind replacement of interior pedestal and tank piping, valves, heat tracing, insulation, and associated appurtenances. It also covers the removal and replacement of the interior 6-inch concrete slab, removable grating, and interior electrical panels (Lighting, Safety Switch, Cathodic Protection, and Pump Control). Additionally, the existing access ladder will be replaced with an OSHA-approved ladder and safety climbing devices. All construction waste, including electrical equipment, must be properly disposed of at licensed facilities. Work will occur near flood mitigation and recreation areas. The tank will be emptied for rehabilitation during the fall/winter off-season (2026/2027 or 2027/2028) and must be substantially completed by May 15 for the summer recreation season.
