Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
This Special Notice announces a Request for Solutions (RFS) issued by Advanced Technology International (ATI) for two critical training initiatives: SIM-001 Small Arms Orientation Device and SIM-002 STE LTS Indirect Fire. This effort, under the Training and Readiness Accelerator II (TReX II), seeks innovative prototypes to enhance Warfighter readiness. Responses are due July 9, 2026.
Scope of Work
The RFS targets two distinct areas:
- Small Arms Orientation Device: Develop a weapon orientation device for small arms, accurate for ballistic model-based engagement, capable of penetrating concealment/obscurants (not cover), with a size/weight no greater than current laser transmitters, and a 72-hour battery life. Key objectives include accuracy for human targets at 1000m and vehicles at 5000m, unaffected by training conditions, easy calibration, lead/elevate capability, and low/no-light engagement. Prototyping will occur in 12-month periods.
- STE LTS Indirect Fire: Develop a training device for howitzers/mortars that collects all necessary information to replicate a firing event in an instrumentation system, requiring minimal setup. The system should use digital gun data to replicate indirect fire effects, allowing forward observers to see "notional" round impacts near real-time for adjustment.
