Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Department of Commerce, has issued a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation (RFQ) for a single-mode 532 nm laser for its Brillouin Light Scattering Spectrometer. This procurement supports the "High Speed Metrology for Magnetoelectronic Devices and Models" project. Quotations are due by May 7, 2026, at 4:00 PM ET.
Scope of Work
NIST requires one (1) Novanta single-mode Torus 532 nm laser, model Torus 532 nm laser, with a 250 mW output, including all necessary peripherals (cables and power supply). The laser must be readily interchangeable with an existing 200 mW unit and meet stringent technical specifications, including a beam diameter of 1.5 mm to 1.9 mm, beam divergence smaller than 0.5 mrad, M2 value better than 1.1, and power stability better than 0.2% rms over 100 hours. A minimum 2-year or 17,500-hour warranty is required. All items must be new.
Contract Details
This is a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order utilizing simplified acquisition procedures. The competition is full and open after brand name exclusion, with a NAICS Code of 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and a small business size standard of 1000 employees. Delivery is FOB Destination to NIST in Boulder, CO, with acceptance testing at NIST in Gaithersburg, MD. Lead time for delivery is no later than twelve (12) weeks after receipt of order.
