Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking proposals for the complete renovation of the Site Effluent System at its Gaithersburg, Maryland campus. This Combined Synopsis/Solicitation is set aside for Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB) and involves a comprehensive rebuild of the system's internal components to restore operational, regulatory, and life safety compliance. Proposals are due June 25, 2026.
Scope of Work
The existing Gaithersburg Site Effluent Treatment System, built in the mid-1990s, is currently inoperable due to significant structural and operational failures, including a detached primary floor support, corroded components, and seized mechanisms. The required work entails a complete renovation and replacement of all internal wet tank components. This includes, but is not limited to, a new floor surface and all support members, safety blowers and heaters, a new stir/agitation motor and shaft system, pH monitoring probes and data signaling, epoxy lining of the wet tank, lighting, electrical outlets, and the demolition and replacement of all explosion-proof electrical wiring and conduit. The project aims to bring the entire system back to operable condition, conforming to current regulatory requirements.
