Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To provide professional services of a school-based social worker to support special needs students at the Taos Day School (TDS) who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The goal is to address social-emotional, behavioral, and academic deficits that impede student access to the classroom and general education setting.

• Provide services as a .25 FTE position (no more than 20 hours per week).

• Work with students and families to address issues affecting academic access and social-emotional/behavioral difficulties.

• Coordinate with families and outside agencies.

• Facilitate workshops and small group sessions for social-emotional support.

• Offer therapeutic services for students experiencing grief that impacts academic success.

• Work directly with general and special education teachers to ensure IEP-dictated social work services are provided.

• Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are made for students to access the general education curriculum.

• Work with 7-14 students experiencing emotional and social adjustment deficits.

• Educate families on supporting students' social and emotional needs at home and school.

• Receive intakes from referrals and evaluate student qualifications for social work services.

• Provide written and verbal input for annual IEP meetings.

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students needing social-emotional support.

• Work with families to address issues impeding academic, social, and behavioral performance.

• Minimum of one year of experience providing school-based social work services.

• Preferred experience includes working on Native American reservations, with BIE-funded schools, or with Native American students in New Mexico.

• Must successfully complete and maintain a BIE background check clearance.

• Must be eligible for a suitability determination.

• Must provide a signed letter of commitment.

• Must wear Bureau-issued Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card visibly on campus.

• Must complete mandatory training: IMT Awareness, DOI Incident Reporting, and SCAN Reporting.
