Quick Summary
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has issued a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation for the sole source acquisition of Sodium Tungstate dihydrate. This opportunity seeks to establish an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a five-year ordering period to procure material for the National Defense Stockpile (NDS). Proposals are due March 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM EST.
Purpose & Context
This is a sole source acquisition justified by national security and industrial mobilization needs, as market research indicates only one domestic secondary producer is currently capable of reclaiming sodium tungstate from scrap material without impacting existing tungsten ore supplies. This is a first-time buy for DLA Strategic Materials. The contract aims to secure a shelf-stable form of tungsten for various Department of Defense (DoD) systems.
Scope of Work
The contractor will provide Sodium Tungstate dihydrate (CLIN 0001) and Third-Party Testing services (CLIN 0002). Approximately 100,000 kg of sodium tungstate dihydrate is anticipated over the five-year period, with an estimated 20,000 kg per year. Material must meet stringent chemical composition requirements, be non-radioactive, and packaged in new UN 1A2 compliant steel drums. Deliveries will be made to DLA Strategic Materials Depots in Scotia, NY; Hawthorne, NV; or Hammond, IN.
