Solicitation / RFP / RFQ

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for Source & Detector Modification and intends to issue a sole source contract to NIKON METROLOGY, LLC. This procurement is for commercial items and services, utilizing FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13. Performance will be located at NASA/Langley Research Center (LARC).

Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To design, draft engineering drawings, and fabricate hardware components to raise the X-ray source and detector of NASA Langley Research Center's Large Volume Computed Tomographic (LVCT) system by approximately six (6) inches. This modification is required to accommodate the Mars Sample Return Earth Entry Vehicle (MSR-EEV).

The contractor shall provide all necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, and supervision to perform the following tasks:

• Task 1: Engineering and Design
  • Assess current LVCT system source and detector mounts.
  • Develop mechanical engineering drawings for structural components to elevate the source and detector.
  • Ensure the design maintains structural rigidity, vibration dampening, and precise optical/mechanical alignment.
  • Submit draft engineering drawings for review and approval prior to fabrication.
• Task 2: Fabrication
  • Fabricate all required components upon written approval of engineering drawings.
  • Ensure all materials meet specifications for strength, durability, and compatibility.
  • Perform quality assurance checks for dimensional accuracy and alignment tolerances.
• Task 3: Delivery and Installation/Calibration
  • Deliver fabricated components to LaRC NESB.
  • Provide final engineering drawings and material certifications.
  • Install components, perform system alignment, and conduct verification testing.
