Quick Summary

The U.S. AbilityOne Commission, through National Industries for the Blind (NIB), has issued a Sources Sought notice to identify U.S. commercial manufacturers for a co-brand agreement for label tapes and cassettes. This initiative aims to sustain and expand product offerings, creating and sustaining employment for people who are blind or severely disabled. Responses are due June 24, 2026.

Scope of Work

NIB is seeking manufacturers of component parts (no distributors) for various label cassettes, including:

  • Sizes: 3/8”, 1/2”, 3/4”
  • Colors: White, yellow, black, and clear
  • Materials: Polyester, nylon, and vinyl
  • Features: Strong, residue-free adhesive, easy-peel backing, compatible with label printer NSNs 7490-01-657-6124 and 7490-01-657-6125. Products must meet or exceed FAR and federal standards, industry performance specifications, and be lab/customer tested with necessary certifications.

Manufacturers must:

  • Possess a nationally or industry-known brand with significant sales.
  • Demonstrate how they will assist the designated nonprofit agency (NPA) in expanding label cassette lines and increasing blind work hours, while minimizing NPA costs.
  • Be willing to deliver bulk materials to the NPA and enter into a multi-year agreement for technical/production assistance and field support.
  • Commit to marketing products to Government customers, with preference for those with dedicated federal sales teams.
  • Work with the NPA, NIB, and AbilityOne to ensure fair and reasonable pricing.
