Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), under the Department of Commerce, has issued a Sources Sought Notice to conduct market research for an Arbitrary Waveform Generator. This RFI aims to identify potential sources capable of providing the required instrument for developing standard reference materials. Responses are due by February 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM ET.
Purpose & Overview
This notice is a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources for an Arbitrary Waveform Generator. It is solely for market research purposes and is not a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a pre-solicitation notice; no award will result from this notice. NIST requires this instrument to develop Standard Reference Materials (SRMs) for magnetic moment measurement, which is crucial for next-generation memory and computing technologies.
Key Requirements / Deliverables
NIST requires one (1) Arbitrary Waveform Generator with a warranty, delivered FOB Destination. Minimum technical specifications include:
- Sampling Rate: >= 6 GSa/s per channel
- Waveform Memory Depth: >= 4 Gpts
- Output Channels: >= 2 analog
- Output Range: 5 Vpeak-to-peak
- Max Output Frequency: 2 GHz
- Vertical Resolution: 16 bits
- Jitter: < 2 ps
- Functions: Sine, square, pulse, ramp
- Connectivity: USB
- Power: 115 V/60 Hz/single phase (cable required)
- Calibration: Traceable to SI
- Documentation: Two sets of manuals (hard copy, electronic, or both) covering operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Submission & Evaluation
Interested firms must submit documentation demonstrating how they meet the minimum requirements and technical specifications. Acceptable documentation includes brochures, manuals, reports, videos, technical data, and customer identification. Proprietary information should NOT be provided. Responses must include company name/address, Point of Contact (phone/email), teaming partners (if any), and supply type (COTS, modified COTS, prototype). Responses that merely repeat specifications without demonstration will not be considered. Respondents will not be notified of survey results.
