Quick Summary
The Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is conducting a Sources Sought market research effort to identify potential sources for a Tunable Laser System Wavemeter for Wavelength Scanning & Locking. This system is required to support NIST's mission in characterizing nano- and atom-scale engineered materials for innovation in information processing, sensing, and quantum technologies. Responses are due by February 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM ET.
Scope & Requirements
NIST requires one (1) Tunable Laser System with a reference wavemeter capable of wavelength scanning and locking. The system must provide continuous lasing output with a wavelength tuning range of 861 nm ± 10 nm or broader, fiber-coupled output power of at least 25 milliwatts, and an optical linewidth of 100 kilohertz or less. Key technical specifications include a mode-hop-free tuning range of 30 gigahertz or greater, wavelength measurement resolution of 5 megahertz or better, and the ability to lock the laser source to a user-set fixed wavelength. The system should also include necessary electronics and communication ports (e.g., USB, TCPIP). Delivery terms are FOB Destination with a 12-month warranty.
