Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) to identify qualified sources for an Electro-Magnetic Gradiometer Sensing System Hardware (EMG-SSH) device. This market research aims to evaluate available vendors with competencies and capabilities to provide a system sensitive between 50kHz-750kHz, capable of picotesla range measurements for detecting and mapping long linear subsurface conductors. Responses are due June 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM CST.
Scope of Work
The requirement is for one (1) EMG-SSH device that meets specifications outlined in the DRAFT Description of Requirement (DOR). Key system components include:
- A rugged, lightweight, man-carry boom (approx. 1.75m long, disassemblable, backpack-attachable, weight-balanced).
- Differential EMG receiver electronics (sealed, programmable 50kHz-750kHz, 10Hz accuracy, minimum two channels).
- Matched electrically shielded Magnetic Dipole Antenna pairs (tuned 50kHz-750kHz, <18 inches).
- Peripheral components: small tablet computer, mobile GPS navigation receiver (sub 20cm accuracy), rugged/semi-rugged laptop (corei7, 16GB RAM, 250GB HD), additional rugged case, staging tripods/clamps.
- Performance: Detect secondary fields from long conductors (>100m) at 10% below FCC maximum emission limits, with picotesla range sensitivity.
- Data Acquisition: Software to control frequency setup, validation, data collection, real-time display, independent data saving (min 10Hz), system status alerts, merging GPS and EM data, automatic file naming, and CSV output.
- Deliverables: The full system, system design drawings, assembly/disassembly manual, instrument operation manual, software operation manual, and in-person training.
