Quick Summary
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) has issued a Special Notice for the Technology InteGrator and AcceleratoR (TIGAR) Exploratory Topic, announcing an upcoming Innovative Solutions Opening (ISO) and a Proposers' Day event. The TIGAR topic focuses on developing temperature-flexible preservation solutions for complex tissues and organs. The ISO is anticipated on April 22nd, 2026, and the Proposers' Day webinar is scheduled for May 14th, 2026.
Purpose
This Special Notice serves to alert the scientific community to ARPA-H's newly approved TIGAR Exploratory Topic and to notify potential proposers of an associated Proposers' Day. The event aims to introduce the TIGAR topic, detail its scope, timeline, and scale, and provide information on how to collaborate with ARPA-H to accelerate healthcare outcomes. It will also explain the process for preparing and submitting a Solution Video and Full Proposal.
TIGAR Exploratory Topic Overview
The TIGAR Exploratory Topic seeks to evaluate early-stage, high-risk, high-impact concepts for temperature-flexible preservation solutions for complex tissues and organs. The goal is to advance regenerative medicine and expand access to advanced therapies. Innovative technologies for stabilizing regenerative tissues and organs are sought, potentially involving AI, materials science, and other biotechnologies, with a preference for strategies reducing reliance on strictly controlled temperatures.

Submission Impact & Inquiries
Attendance at the Proposers' Day is optional and not required for proposal submission. Information shared will be made available on the ARPA-H website. Advanced registration is required for the Proposers' Day, and participation is limited to the potential proposer community. Inquiries should be submitted to TIGAR@arpa-h.gov, referencing "TIGAR Proposers' Day (ARPA-H-SN-26-142)", after checking the FAQ page at https://arpa-h.gov/research-and-funding/programs/TIGAR/faqs.
TIGAR Structure & Funding
The TIGAR program will have two intake groups for early-stage concepts, structured as an 18-month period of performance (two 9-month phases with a go/no-go decision). Proposers must demonstrate progress towards functional preservation of entire structures or 1 cm³ of tissue for ≥30 days at practical temperatures. Total ARPA-H funding requested shall not exceed $2 million USD over 18 months.
