Quick Summary
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials Directorate has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for planning purposes only, seeking industry capabilities for the potential acquisition of specialized low alpha tin. This RFI aims to gather information on the reprocess/re-melt of 1,978 MT of Long Horn brand tin ingot (Grade A 99.80%) into specialized low alpha tin (Min 99.999% Sn) for addition into the National Defense Stockpile. This is not a request for quote or an obligation to acquire services. Responses are due March 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM EST.
Scope of Work
DLA is investigating the reprocess/re-melt of existing tin ingot to achieve a higher purity, low alpha tin product. The specific requirement is for 1,978 metric tons of tin, transforming Grade A 99.80% tin into a minimum 99.999% Sn product. Exact elemental specifications and form are yet to be determined. This effort supports the strategic materials needs of the National Defense Stockpile.
