- Material: QQ-N-286, form 2, annealed and age hardened.
- Prohibited: Weld repair on QQ-N-286 material.
- Testing: Quantitative chemical and mechanical analysis, annealing and age hardening tests, and ultrasonic inspection on starting material (for items made from QQ-N-286 with diameter/minimum distance of 4 inches or greater). The Slow Strain Rate Tensile Test for QQ-N-286 must be performed by one of several specified approved laboratories.
- Quality System: Contractors must maintain a quality system in accordance with ISO-9001, amplified by ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025. This system is subject to Government Quality Assurance (GQA) at the source.
- Traceability: Strict traceability from material to certification test reports (Objective Quality Evidence - OQE) is required for Level I/SUBSAFE systems. Material markings must provide direct traceability to chemical composition and mechanical properties.

Submission & Quality Assurance
