Quick Summary
The Space Systems Command (SSC) / System Delta 88 (SYD 88) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for market research to inform potential United States Space Force (USSF) requirements for Strategic Satellite Communications (SATCOM). This RFI seeks industry feedback, recommendations, and best practices to explore achievable innovations, particularly those utilizing the eXtended Data Rate (XDR) waveform. The effort will culminate in a "2026 Strategic SATCOM Space Segment Reverse Industry Day" in March 2026. White papers are due by February 13, 2026, 1200 Pacific Time.
Scope of Work / Key Requirements
SYD 88 is seeking industry capabilities and innovations for rapid deployment of enhanced end-to-end communications, rapid prototyping, and accelerated incorporation of industry-developed science & technology into next-generation edge and backhaul satellite communication systems. The focus areas include high-availability XDR communications, resilient architectures, and advanced infrastructure. Companies are invited to submit a white paper (max six pages, excluding attachments) outlining their value proposition, relevant experience, and approach to addressing these areas. The white paper should cover:
- Company Overview and Security Readiness: Including CAGE Code, size designation, technical background, infrastructure, relevant government contracts, and clearance levels.
- Innovation and Capability Alignment: Identifying the innovation, its fit within Strategic SATCOM, mapping to Market Research Focus Areas (Appendix A), value proposition, contribution to end-to-end capability, and maturity (TRL/MRL).
- System Integration and Technical Contribution: Outlining integration into the Strategic SATCOM system, teaming arrangements, and dependencies.
- Capability Decomposition and Subsystem Coverage: Mapping capabilities to System-to-Segment requirement elements (Appendix B).
