Quick Summary

The National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA), through its NASA SHARED SERVICES CENTER, is soliciting quotations for Sub-scale corrugated panel fabrication via Continuous Compression Molding (CCM). This procurement is a Total Small Business Set-Aside and aims to explore a new roll-to-roll fabrication process for thermoplastic composite parts. Quotes are due by March 3, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. CT.

Scope of Work

This opportunity requires the contractor to design and fabricate specific molds and tooling for a flat Continuous Compression Molding (CCM) machine. The primary objective is to produce thin-wall corrugated panels using NASA-provided thin-ply thermoplastic composite (TPC) prepreg material (carbon fiber/PEKK). This effort serves as a sub-scale trial for developing long, deployable composite structures for space applications.

Key Deliverables & Tasks

  • Task 1.0 – Tool Fabrication: Design and fabricate a CCM tool, pre-former, grippers/spacers, and a trim fixture. A Critical Design Review (CDR) is required prior to fabrication.
  • Task 2.0 – Deliverable Manufacturing: Develop a setup card, run development panels and TCVs, and produce 8 final corrugated panels, each measuring 0.6 meters wide by 7 meters long.
  • Final panels must meet a trim width tolerance of ±0.5 mm and be individually rolled onto spools for transport.
  • A test report and certificate of compliance are required for both development and final items.
