Project Details & Scope
The project requires a non-personnel services contract to conduct an eelgrass (Zostera marina) survey in and around the Swinomish Federal Navigation Channel. The survey will document and delineate the extent and quantify the abundance of eelgrass to assess potential impacts from upcoming dredging and maintenance projects. Key aspects include:
- Eelgrass Survey: Performing distribution and abundance surveys on the West Coast of the U.S. using video, biosonics, hydroacoustic, and/or visual methods.
- Sampling and Analysis Plans: Designing plans in accordance with USACE guidelines.
- Data Collection, Processing, and Mapping: Delivering quality-assured datasets quantifying key survey metrics (presence/absence, shoot density, canopy extent, % cover) and producing accurate GIS maps.
- Report Generation: Compiling field data into clear, scientifically sound reports.
Required Experience & Capabilities
Interested firms must demonstrate experience with projects of similar scope, magnitude, and complexity, specifically in:
- Eelgrass surveys in coastal/marine environments on the West Coast.
