Submission Requirements (Source Approval Request - SAR)

Companies interested in being reviewed and qualified as an "Approved Source" must submit a Source Approval Request (SAR) package. This package should contain all technical data necessary to demonstrate the prospective contractor can competently manufacture the product to the required quality level.

  • For Open Solicitations: Submit the SAR directly to the buyer noted on the solicitation.
  • For No Open Solicitation: Submit SARs electronically via the DoD SAFE file transmission site. To initiate, email dlaavnsmallbus@dla.mil with the subject "request a SAR drop off," including CAGE code, NSN, and email address for the download link.
  • Important Considerations:
    • SARs will not be evaluated for items designated as fully competitive (AMSC "G" code).
    • SARs may not be processed if deemed not cost-effective due to low demand. Review the DLA Supplier Requirements Visibility Application for forecasting.
    • The SAR review process can take over 180 days.
