Scope of Work
This effort involves the repair, removal, and replacement of insulated glass units (IGUs) in ATCT cabs. Projects are located in the Eastern, Central, and Western regions of the US. Key tasks include:
- Performing accurate measurements for replacement IGUs.
- Removing and properly disposing of existing damaged glass.
- Providing and installing properly sized replacement IGUs according to specifications.
- Providing a warranty per specification 08 88 58.
- Cleaning new IGUs and restoring the project site to its original condition. The work may involve various types of annealed glass, including Monolithic, Insulated Glass Units (IGU), Laminated Insulated Glass Units, and Laminated Glass Units. A limited number of facilities may also require Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) Reduction Glass. Contractors should be aware of the potential presence of lead paint on existing frames.
Personnel Requirements
Key personnel must meet specific experience and certification criteria:
- Project Manager: Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the glass industry and coordinating complex projects.
- Project Superintendent: Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the glass industry, coordinating complex projects, overseeing safety programs, and must have completed the 30-hour OSHA General Industry Safety Class.
- Crane Operators: Must meet USACE EM 385-1-1, Section 16 and Appendix G requirements. For mobile cranes 50,000 lbs or greater, operators must be qualified by a recognized source.
