Scope of Work
The requirement is for the production and delivery of various Thin Layer Explosive (TLX) items, identified by multiple National Stock Numbers (NSNs), Drawing Numbers, and DODICs. The Detonating Cord Assembly (DCA) for these items consists of a 0.12-inch diameter plastic tube with a thin layer of HMX-AL explosive on the inner surface, a steel over braid, and two end fitting assemblies. Each end fitting assembly includes a lead azide transition charge, HNS base charge, ferrule, booster cup, seal, and fitting nut. TLX must conform to the requirements specified in the Technical Data Package (TDP).
Critical Processes/Skills
Manufacturers must possess or be able to obtain skills in:
- Radiography and Radiographic equipment.
- Propellant manufacturing and casting.
- Energetic material and/or explosive handling and loading.
- Welding, machining, bridgewire and electrical circuitry.
