Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

This document outlines the scope of work for installing interior storm window panels within the historic eighteenth-century house at the Thomas Stone National Historic Site.

• Install twenty-eight (28) interior-mounted, aluminum-framed, removable storm sash panels.

• Panels shall be magnetically secured and sealed at jambs, sill, and head in aluminum or steel channels.

• Units must be the full height of the existing window opening and feature a single glass panel.

• Glass required is Double Strength B Grade (1/8” minimum), Low-E Glass with UV filter. Thicker or tempered glass may be required by code.

• All units shall be weather-stripped.

• Storm windows shall be custom manufactured to fit each window and painted to match existing window frames.

• Contractor will remove and salvage existing window treatment and hardware, repair and paint existing window frames, and clean interior surfaces and glass of existing windows.

• Workmanship must be first-class.

• Contractor must take precautions to protect historic structure elements; a site-specific Quality Assurance Plan is required.

• New windows must be installed straight, plumb, and level without distortion.

• Windows must fit snugly but operate smoothly.

• A five (5) year warranty against faulty materials, paint, and workmanship is required.
