Scope of Work

This combined synopsis/solicitation seeks commercial services for Timber Stand Improvement (Crop Tree Release). Contractors will provide all labor, equipment, supervision, tools, and incidentals to perform four-sided crown-touch release treatments. The objective is to achieve a "free-to-grow" rating of 4 for selected crop trees by cutting or girdling competing vegetation. Specific species to favor include Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, Yellow-Poplar, Basswood, and Cucumber-Tree, while Yellow Pines, Dogwood, Eastern Hemlock, Ash, Serviceberry, and American Chestnut are not to be cut. Work involves severing trees with chainsaws at ground level (max 12 inches), controlling grapevines, and ensuring felled trees are scattered and clear of roads. The work will be performed in mountainous terrain, potentially steep and rocky, requiring UTVs or side-by-sides for access. Final acreage will be determined in July-August 2026.
