Scope of Work
This requirement involves repairing 19.61 miles (103,518 ft) of damaged trail. Key tasks include:
- Trail Corridor Clearing: Removing trees, brush, and obstacles to establish a 60-inch wide, 10-foot high corridor. All trees and brush in the tread will be grubbed out 2 inches below bare soil. Waste materials must be pulled a minimum of 10 feet from the trail.
- Tread Repair: Re-establishing the trail tread down to bare mineral soil, 18-24 inches wide, using full bench construction on side hills greater than 15%. Tread must out-slope 3-5%.
- Trail Markings: Re-marking the trail with yellow paint hatches (4.5-5 ft high, 4x8 inches) every 75-100 feet. Yellow carsonite posts will be placed every 0.5 mile on the main trail and at trailheads/crossings, indicating distance and usage restrictions. White carsonite posts will be used on the Lake Springs Loop.
- Minor Creek Crossings: Removing debris and placing concrete brick or similar material for a satisfactory walking/riding surface.
- Foot Bridges: Repairing or replacing 11 foot bridges as detailed in Attachment 2, using treated lumber and securing them properly. This includes foundation stabilization, board replacement, and handrail repair. Abutment preparation, including grading and seeding, is required as needed.
