Procurement Announcement: Heavy Transportation Trucks and Drivers for January Operations
The U.S. Embassy in Bern is seeking a qualified vendor to provide heavy transportation trucks and drivers for operations between Zurich Airport and Davos, Switzerland during the month of January.
Requirements:
- Trucks and Drivers:
- Trucks must have hard sides and roller beds capable of accommodating L463 pallets.
- Drivers must be licensed to drive in Switzerland.
- Vehicles must be approved to operate on airport grounds and tarmac for aircraft loading.
- Warehouse Facility:
- The vendor must have a warehouse facility located within one kilometer of Zurich Airport.
- The facility must provide:
- 24-hour access.
- Restrooms for personnel.
- Equipment to load and weigh L463 pallets.
- A covered and weather-protected area for palletization of equipment for aircraft loading.
- Forklift Capability:
- The vendor must provide a forklift with a capacity of 5 tons or greater to:
- Unload pallets at Zurich Airport and Davos.
- Reload pallets in Davos and at Zurich Airport.
- The vendor must provide a forklift with a capacity of 5 tons or greater to:
- Transportation Conditions:
- Trucks and trailers must be equipped for driving in snow conditions on mountain roads.
- A government representative will be required to ride in the cab of the truck during transport.
- Vehicle Rental Option:
- The vendor must be able to provide vehicles for rent without drivers to be based in Davos during this time, if required.
Scope of Work:
- Pickup of equipment at Zurich Airport.
- Delivery to Davos, Switzerland.
- Return pickup in Davos and delivery back to Zurich Airport.
Interested vendors must meet all requirements and provide proof of licensing, facility capabilities (including restroom availability), and vehicle rental options.
