Purpose & Scope
The VA requires comprehensive PGx education and training for its clinicians, including Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Nurses, and Pharmacy technicians. The goal is to empower these professionals to incorporate PGx into medication management services, improve medication efficacy and safety, and efficiently apply PGx into patient care. The incumbent contractor for these services is the University of Pittsburgh.
Key Requirements
The selected contractor will be responsible for:
- Developing and delivering accredited multimodal PGx education and training (asynchronous and synchronous).
- Evaluating clinician competency in the clinical application of PGx.
- Providing continuing education credits from accrediting bodies such as ACPE, ACCME, ANCC, and AAPA.
- Developing a data use agreement for educational analyses.
- Providing a contractor-hosted website for course registration and materials, supporting at least 1,000 participants per contract period.
- Developing and delivering both on-demand, self-directed asynchronous curricula and synchronous, live curricula, including specialty CE courses (e.g., Cardiology, Oncology, Mental Health, Pain).
- Developing a communication plan for marketing the training program.
- Foundational PGx content must be available immediately upon award, with medication reconciliation content finalized within 60-90 days post-award.
