Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

This Statement of Work (SOW) specifies the manufacturing, procurement, and delivery of the Upper Wide Angle Viewing System (UWAVS) Ex-Vessel components for four upper ports (2, 8, 11, 14) of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). It also covers the necessary assembly and testing activities to verify compliance with requirements, and documentation related to reviews such as Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR) and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

• Manufacture, inspect, test, and deliver three main ex-vessel assemblies: Interspace Optics Tube (IOT) Assembly, Bioshield Optics Labyrinth (BOL) Assembly, and Back End Optics and Camera (BEOC) Assembly.

• These assemblies are designed to provide real-time, simultaneous visible and infrared images of the ITER divertor region for machine protection, plasma control, and physics measurements.

• The scope includes phased implementation: Phase 1 (Preparation for Manufacturing) involving documentation development and prototyping, and Phase 2 (Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Shipping, and Acceptance).

• PPPL will deliver raw material blocks (SS316L(N)-IG) and the infrared and visible cameras to the supplier.

• The contract duration begins at award, following the Final Design Review (FDR), and continues to Site Acceptance of the final article and successful integration into the Interspace Support Structure (ISS), Bioshield, and Port Cell Support Structure (PCSS) by the port integrator.

• Integration into the Interspace, Bioshield, and Port Cell of Upper Port Plugs (2, 8, 11, and 14) is out of scope for this contract.

• Adherence to specific codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ITER standards).

• Detailed requirements for manufacturing processes, electrical components, cooled components, gas systems, piping, optical components, and materials.

• Rigorous quality assurance, inspection, testing (including Factory Acceptance Testing and System Level Testing), and documentation procedures.

• Specific requirements for cleaning, packaging, handling, storage, and transport.

• Warranty covering a period after successful site acceptance testing up to two years or first plasma, whichever is earlier.

• Supplier must provide on-site technical support at the integration facility.
