This document outlines the requirements for cleaning and regasketing two specific plate heat exchangers (MDG LO Cooler No. 1 and MDG LO Cooler No. 3) for the T-AKE class.

• Examination and Cleaning: Thoroughly examine, clean, and regasket the specified plate heat exchangers.

• Disassembly and Inspection: Disassemble the heat exchangers, inspect plates and gaskets for damage, and perform die penetrant Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on plates. Inspect frame plates, pressure plates, and other components for damage or corrosion.

• Maintenance and Replacement: Replace all gaskets, boots, nozzles, collars, and seals using manufacturer's instructions and provided Government Furnished Material (GFM).

• Plate Refurbishment: Transport plate packs to an OEM-authorized repair facility for cleaning, inspection, and regasketing. This includes chemical cleaning and inspection for pinholes and cracks.

• Reassembly and Testing: Reassemble and tighten plate packs according to OEM guidance, ensuring correct plate pack thickness. Conduct hydrostatic and operational tests to verify no leakage.

• Crating and Transport: Fabricate heavy-duty wooden crates for temporary storage and transport of heat exchanger plates to prevent damage.

• Coordination: Coordinate with ship's force for lockout/tag-out procedures and with the Chief Engineer regarding system status.

• Measure and record plate pack thickness before disassembly and after reassembly.

• Conduct inspections, maintenance, and testing using specified references (MSC Tech Manual T9532-A2-MMC-010).

• Submit condition reports for any deficiencies found.

• Provide electronic copies of updated technical documentation.

To machine and restore the coupling for HTFW Pump No. 3, ensuring it fits the existing pump and motor shafts.

• Measure and machine the existing HTFW Pump No. 3 coupling and key to fit the pump and motor shafts.

• Remove the existing coupling.

• Re-use the flexible metal part of the coupling.

• Machine new parts for the coupling.

• Treat the restored coupling with Rust-Ban #394 or equivalent.

• Pack the coupling cover with grease.

• Coordinate with ship's force for lockout/tagout procedures before and after maintenance.

• Coordinate with ship's force for operational testing of the pump and motor after coupling.

• The "blue fit" of the key to the shaft must show 99% contact.

• System: HTFW (High Temperature Freshwater Cooling)

• Contractor must consult and comply with General Technical Requirements (GTRs) 1 through 7, 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29.

This document outlines the requirements for replacing one or both High Seachest 30” Seawater Valves (SW-V-1 and/or SW-V-2) on a ship.

• Provide and operate equipment, services, and assistance to replace the specified seawater valves.

• Attend meetings with ship's force and dive operators to coordinate system tag-out before valve removal.

• Replace the leaking valve(s) (SW-V-1, SW-V-2, or both) with valves provided by the ship.

• Unbolt, remove, and rig out existing valves. Retain mounting hardware for potential reuse, subject to Chief Engineer or Port Engineer permission.

• Ensure proper pipe alignment and valve disc positioning during replacement.

• Tighten bolts in a star configuration between 150-500 ft-lbs. to ensure watertightness, without exceeding 500 ft-lbs.

• Perform an operational test with ship's force to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new valves.

• Ensure watertightness of the new valve installation.

• Demonstrate the effectiveness of the new valves through an operational test.

• Contractor Furnished Material: May elect to select specific cap screws/studs and nuts (Items 3.4.1-3.4.4 OR 3.4.5-3.4.9). Quantities are for worst-case two-valve replacement; can be halved for single valve replacement. Reuse of existing bolts requires permission.

• Government Furnished Material: One 30” Lugged Valve.

• Government Furnished Services: Divers will be provided to cofferdam the high sea chest.

• Compliance: Must consult and comply with applicable General Technical Requirements (GTRs) 1-7, 22-24, 28, and 29.

• Safety: Adhere to all safety instructions regarding high voltage electrical systems. Assume all electrical cables are energized until tested otherwise.
