• Work Item 1: Tanks, Clean and Inspect

  • The contractor is required to clean and inspect a list of fuel tanks and voids, including:
    • Fuel Oil Service tanks (1S, 1P, 2S, 2P)
    • Emergency Generator Fuel Tank
    • Fuel Oil Storage tanks (1, 2)
    • Fuel Oil Overflow tanks (1, 2)
    • Oily Water tank
    • Dirty Oil tank
    • Aft Void

• The contractor must remove and dispose of diesel fuel and other residual contents from these tanks in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

• Cleaning of tank interior surfaces to remove foreign materials, sediment, sludge, rust, or biological growth.

• Visual inspection of all tank interior surfaces, including structural condition, coating condition, tank level indicators, sounding/vent tubes, piping, and fasteners.

• Measurement of up to 10 "pits" within each tank to determine depth.

• Tank closing procedures, including a 24-hour open period and use of new gasket material.

• All cleaning media and residues must be removed continuously during the washing process.

• Residual moisture must be wiped up with clean lint-free cloths.

• Tank contents and waste disposal must comply with all applicable regulations.

• A complete chain of custody record for removed tank contents and generated wastes must be documented and submitted.

• Post-repair operational tests of designated tank TLI's must be performed and demonstrated to be in satisfactory operating condition.

• The work is for a dockside availability for the USCGC ROBERT YERED (WPC 1104) during FY2026.

• The contractor must furnish and install protective coverings to seal off and protect non-affected vessel components during work.

• Protective measures must be removed, and the area inspected for contamination upon completion.

• The contractor must handle all interferences, including fuel, piping, and tank access covers.

• Coast Guard personnel will operate all shipboard machinery and equipment.

• Ship's force will pump down tanks to the maximum extent possible and will procure new fluids to refill tanks.
