USNS APALACHICOLA/YUMA Reduction Gear Overhaul

This solicitation is for the "USNS APALACHICOLA/YUMA Reduction Gear Reactivation." The objective is to remove Main Reduction Gears (MRG) from layup and return them to service. This involves maintenance, annual maintenance, and inspection of the MRGs.

• Provide services of an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) authorized field service representative.

• Perform reactivation, annual maintenance, and inspection of Main Reduction Gears (MRG) as per MSC Tech Manual No. S9241-DA-MMC-010.

• Coordinate with ship's force for equipment lockout/tag-out procedures.

• Drain and dispose of any liquid in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.

• Install protective covering and station a checkpoint watch during inspection and maintenance.

• Perform cleaning of equipment using approved cleaning products.

• Perform visual check of the transmission, including outlet points, shafts, housing, oil line/monitoring unit connections, and coolant connections.

• Confirm proper tension of vessel-related hardware to the gearbox, retightening accessible bolt connections.

• Lubricate lubricating nipples with a grease gun.

• Perform cleaning of the oil filter.

• Perform inspection of clutch discs, gearing, oil pumps, control unit, and electrical actuation device.

• Drain and dispose of liquid, then refill transmission with specified oil.

• Prepare, prime, paint, and restore all new, soiled, and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces.

• Renew lagging where damaged or disturbed.

• Provide electronic copies of all revised/updated technical documentation.

• Contract Type: Firm Fixed Price for both APALACHICOLA and YUMA components.

• Period of Performance:

  • USNS APALACHICOLA: July 15, 2026 - July 30, 2026
  • USNS YUMA: July 31, 2026 - August 14, 2026

• Quotes are to be submitted via email to the contracting officer and contract specialist.

• Quotes must be in Adobe or Microsoft Office format.

• Evaluation will be based on the lowest priced technically acceptable quoter.

• Technical evaluation requires quoted parts to meet solicitation requirements, including delivery dates and terms.

• Price evaluation will assess reasonableness.

• The solicitation is unrestricted.
