Scope of Work

The selected contractor will be responsible for providing all equipment, supplies, and labor to perform RI activities at four areas on Woody Island (CT Site, Building 605, Former Tank Farm and Pipeline Area, Former Communications and Housing Facility) and the Kodiak ATCT. Key activities include:

  • Soil and groundwater sampling, soil screening, and monitoring well installation/development/sampling, adhering to the most recent ADEC Field Sampling Guidance and Groundwater Sampling and Monitoring Wells Guidance.
  • Delineating the lateral and vertical extent of previously indicated contamination sources exceeding cleanup levels, utilizing direct read field instruments (e.g., XRF, PID), historical data, and professional judgment.
  • Oversight by a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) as defined by 18 AAC 75.333.
  • Analytical sampling for media and analytes specified in the SOW, including silica gel cleanup for samples with significant organic material.
  • Investigation of non-petroleum contamination (PCBs, RCRA metals) at the Former Communications and Housing Area on Woody Island, using appropriate screening methodologies.
  • Soil borings completed by continuous coring with direct push drill rigs or hollow stem augers, with provisions for hand tools in inaccessible areas.
  • Monitoring wells constructed and installed according to ADEC Monitoring Well Guidance, with specific requirements for flush-mounted wells and potential hand installation in certain areas.
  • Groundwater sampling using low flow methods and in-well data collection systems (pressure transducers) for continuous CTD data over tidal cycles.
  • GPR surveys and utility locate services prior to intrusive site work.
