Quick Summary

The National Park Service (NPS), through the Department of the Interior, is soliciting proposals for a Total Small Business Set-Aside contract to upgrade security gates at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument in Mountainair, New Mexico. This Firm Fixed-Price Request for Quote (RFQ) involves adding motorized operators to existing entrance gates at Gran Quivira and includes optional work for relocating and motorizing a gate at Quarai. The project aims to reduce staff travel time, increase security, and enhance safety. Proposals are due May 14, 2026.

Scope of Work

The primary objective is to automate entrance gates. The scope includes:

  • Gran Quivira Unit: Automating the existing entrance gate with a motorized operator. This involves installing concrete pads, new automatic gate arm operators, conduit, wiring, hardware, an existing loop in the pavement, a "Knox Box" model 3200, signage, and painted stop bars. Training for park personnel and documentation are also required.
  • Quarai Unit (Optional Work): Two options are available:
    • Option 1 (Swing Gate): Relocating and motorizing the existing gate at Location "A." This requires obtaining permits, trenching new underground power, constructing a new pipe gate, and installing operators, a magnetic loop, and a "Knox Box."
    • Option 2 (Cantilevered Gate): Installing a new cantilevered gate at Location "B." This also requires permits, new underground power, a rolling gate, remotes, a magnetic loop, a "Knox Box," and motion-activated security lighting. All work includes provision of a two-year warranty on labor, parts, and materials, and all gate operators must be UL 325 compliant. Work at Quarai is adjacent to a county road, requiring compliance with county regulations.
