This project will renovate approximately 11,000 sq. feet of the 2nd floor in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of Building No. 1 at the Cincinnati VA medical center. Construction will include demolishing the existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components, floor finishes, walls, and ceilings within the MICU to update the space with a new layout, fixtures, and finishes. Included in this scope is the construction of new patient rooms, offices, a conference room, staff lounges, male and female locker rooms, a clean supply room, a pharmacy office, work areas, and a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) station. The scope also includes the installation of a new High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) pandemic filtration system to provide negative pressure to the newly constructed patient rooms in accordance with pandemic preparedness standards. Most construction work will be isolated to the 2nd floor, however, plumbing, electrical, and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) connections will need to be made above and below the 2nd floor deck and slab, as well as rooftop work to install and tie into new/existing air handling equipment.
