- Quality System: Contractors must maintain a quality system compliant with ISO 9001 (or MIL-I-45208) and calibration system requirements of ISO 10012 (or MIL-STD-45662). Only sources with an acceptable Quality Assurance Manual are eligible.
- Testing & Certification: Extensive testing is required, including hydrostatic tests for the ball (or dye penetrant inspection) and non-destructive tests for weld repairs. Certifications are required for chemical and mechanical analysis of materials, with specific requirements for metallic and non-metallic components.
- Traceability: Strict material traceability is mandated from raw material to finished component, with unique traceability numbers, heat-lot numbers, or heat-treat numbers marked on materials.
- Inspections: Includes receiving, final, and subcontractor inspections. Government Quality Assurance (GQA) will be performed at the source.
- Documentation: All certification data (CDRLs) must be submitted to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard via WAWF (Wide Area Work Flow) for review and acceptance prior to shipment. Specific WAWF codes and email notification are provided.
