Quick Summary

The Department of the Army, through MICC-FDO Fort Hood, is conducting a Sources Sought for market research to identify qualified small businesses capable of providing a leased 55-Ton crane without operators for use at Fort Hood, Texas. This crane will support overhead lifting and movement of items for tanks and the Joint Assault Bridge (JAB) system. Responses are due April 29, 2026.

Purpose

This is a Sources Sought Notice for market research only, not a solicitation. Its purpose is to determine the availability and capability of small businesses (including 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, SDB, and other small businesses) to meet the government's requirement for a 55-Ton crane lease.

Scope of Work

The government requires one leased 55-Ton crane (without contractor-provided operators) capable of lifting between 40,000 lbs and 60,000 lbs. The crane will be used for overhead lifting and movement of support items to ensure tanks are issued to current standards and for work involving the Joint Assault Bridge (JAB) system. Key technical specifications for the crane include:

  • Continuous rotation
  • Boom extension up to 35 feet
  • All-weather cab
  • All-wheel drive and 4-wheel steer
  • Load limiting computer The contractor will also be required to provide an on-site training session covering the crane's controls, operational features, startup/shutdown procedures, basic operation, and key safety considerations. Routine maintenance and compliance with all applicable laws are mandatory. The government will provide its own licensed and certified military personnel to operate the cranes.
