Quick Summary
The NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS), a sub-tier of the Department of the Navy, has issued a solicitation for the repair and modification of proximity switches (PSC 5930). These items are classified as Critical Safety Items (CSI) essential for crucial shipboard systems supporting aircraft launch and recovery. A key requirement for eligibility is Engineering Source Approval by Naval Air Systems Command. Proposals are due by June 8, 2026.
Scope of Work
This opportunity involves the repair and modification of proximity switches, with a required Repair Turnaround Time (RTAT) of 110 days after asset receipt. Contractors must also specify a monthly throughput constraint. All work must adhere to MIL-STD-130 markings and be manufactured, tested, and inspected according to drawing 2056AS0555 (most current revision) and all referenced specifications. The contractor is solely responsible for providing all necessary manufacturing aids, such as fixtures, jigs, and special tooling.
Critical Requirements & Eligibility
Due to the critical nature of these items, only companies with prior Engineering Source Approval from Naval Air Systems Command are eligible for award. Companies not yet approved may submit a Source Approval Request (SAR) to the contracting officer by the solicitation's closing date. The SAR must include comprehensive documentation, such as configuration drawings, process/operation sheets, purchase orders for similar items, a detailed comparative analysis, and inspection method sheets. New manufacturers may also be subject to a pre-award survey.
Quality Assurance & Inspection
This procurement involves stringent quality assurance. All records related to ALRE CSI/CAI manufacture and inspection must be provided to the ALRE Cognizant Technical Authority and maintained for seven years. Contractors must submit repair procedures to NAWCADLKE engineering for approval prior to commencing work. NAWCADLKE representatives retain the option to conduct QA surveillance, requiring contractors to notify them and the PCO 14 working days prior to government inspection and acceptance. Critical and major features require 100% inspection and documentation of actual dimensions. Mandatory PCO inspection will occur at the source under DCMAO QAR surveillance, with specific requirements for contractor inspection levels. Magnetic Particle Inspection is also applicable.
